This is a fine list, Margaret! And a few of these authors (like Murdoch) are authors I’ve wanted to explore more and just haven’t. It’s very good to be reminded of them. I like the topic, too!

The Dutch House is on my list this week as well. I forgot about Frenchman’s Creek and God is an Englishman, but I enjoyed both of those books.

Yes, I can see how this would be a challenge. Good job! I haven’t read any of the books you listed, though I have read others by Daphne du Maurier.

The title of that Ukrainian book is funny to me. Have you read it? Is it really about tractors?

Anne, I have read the Ukrainian book. It’s about a family of Ukrainian descent living in the UK – and the narrator, Nadia’s 84 year old father is writing a history of tractors, which is where the title comes from. Though, there’s a lot more to it than that. You learn a lot about the history of Ukraine from it. It was first published in 2005, years before the current Ukrainian war.
