I was delighted and so lucky to win these five books in Sarah’s Giveaway at Crimepieces blog! Thank you Sarah!

They are from the new Penguin translations of Georges Simenon’s Maigret novels:

Years ago I enjoyed the TV series Maigret with Rupert Davies in the title role and have recently watched the latest series with Rowan Atkinson as Maigret. I think he is excellent in the role and so is Lucy Cohu as Madame Maigret.

Last Sunday  I enjoyed watching Maigret’s Night at the Crossroads and was pleased to see the book was today’s Kindle Deal of Day.
The Night at the Crossroads (Maigret #7)I shall be reading them very soon!

  1. Oh, lucky you! I read one of the new issues recently and thoroughly enjoyed it, and have another of them in audiobook form coming up soon. I must say I’m enjoying these old crime novels more than most of the current stuff at the moment – so pleased so many of them are being re-issued!

  2. We have last week’s Maigret recorded to watch. (Game of Thrones has a lot to answer for…) What a nice win! I haven’t read any of them but have read quite a few Maigret books and enjoyed them all.

  3. Congratulations and well done, Margaret! I really hope you’ll enjoy those reads! I’m sure you will.

  4. Love the Maigret mysteries–they’re the perfect palate-cleanser when you’re between bigger books. Looking forward to seeing Rowan Atkinson in the role–not sure if they’ve hit the States yet because I tend to wait for Netflix/Hulu or other streaming service. Michael Gambon played Maigret in a series of very atmospheric adaptations in the 1990s.
