The crossing is only available at low tide and walkers can also use the causeway, again only at low tide. You can only walk across the traditional Pilgrims Path during the middle of the safe crossing times. I think you couldn’t walk across without getting your feet wet, Caite.
I took this photo as we were leaving the island along the causeway as the tide was just beginning to come in flooding the paths. It’s quite dramatic. I love this place – glad it gave you such a good impression of being there, Margot.
