Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. For the rules see her blog.
The topic this week is Books on My Fall 2026 To-Read List. The first two books are NetGalley review copies. The rest are from my Kindle TRB list.

Is It Too Late to Make a Run for It? by Judi Dench – Dame Judi Dench tells us of her life on the stage, on the screen, and, above all, behind the scenes …
The Recruit by L D Sharpe, a spy thriller, previously published by Burning Chair in 2022 as The King’s Pawn by Lucy Hooft.
The Prince and a Spy by Rory Clements – a Cambridge spy must unravel a dangerous mystery that goes all the way to the heart of the Third Reich – and the British Monarchy.
Miss Willmott’s Ghost :the extraordinary life and gardens of a forgotten genius by Sandra Lawrence – a biography.
The Years by Virginia Woolf – a novel about a large upper-class London family, spanning three generations of the Pargiter family from the 1880s to the 1930s.
Maigret’s Dead Man by Georges Simenon – a series of strange phone calls leads Inspector Maigret through the Paris streets towards a man out of his depth amid a network of merciless criminals.
The Women of Arlington Hall by Jane Healey – historical fiction about female code breakers in the Cold War, in the late 1940s.
The Age of Diagnosis: Are Medical Labels Doing Us More Harm Than Good? by Suzanne O’Sullivan – nonfiction, an investigation into whether diagnoses like ADHD and Long Covid do more harm than good.
A History of Britain in 21 Women: A Personal Selection – nonfiction, Jenni Murray tells the stories of twenty-one women who made history.
Journeys to Impossible Places: In Life and Every Adventure by Simon Reeve – nonfiction. BBC travel presenter Simon Reeve opens up about the personal story behind his most astonishing adventures – around the planet and close to home.
The Years does sound interesting.

You have an excellent list here, Margaret. I like the focus on women in history in a few of your selections. A biographical and fictional look at women in different times really interests me, so it’s good to see that here.

I’ve got the mug and the tea towel but I didn’t know there was a book for 21 Women! I hope you enjoy The Years, I thought it was like a prosaic version of The Waves if that makes any sense?!

I listened to the audio of Judi Dench’s Shakespeare: The Man Who Pays the Rent and it was so good. I have this new one on my TBR as well.

Rory Clements putting Prince George [late Duke of Kent] in this book and his older brother the Duke of Windsor [Edward VIII] in the new Munich Wolf book. I’ll need to get reading! I enjoyed Judi Dench’s earlier books–Shakepeare the Man Who Pays the Rent and And Futhermore, so I’ll likely get to this one, too, eventually. Enjoy all of these.

JOURNEYS TO IMPOSSIBLE PLACES sounds intriguing! I’m not an adventurer, but I like reading about people who are. I hope you enjoy all these.
Happy TTT!

I’m not familiar with any of these but will add a few to my list! I did read one book by Jane Healey and own another – I liked The Secret Stealers but was irked by something she invented – Wild Bill Donovan giving heroine a piece of jewelry that reveals her code name to someone about to go undercover. Where are the editors, I always wonder…

I listened to Judi Dench’s book about her life as a Shakespearean actress, and I loved it. This one is going on the list!
A History of Britain in 21 Women is definitely intriguing. I just looked up the 21 women on the Goodreads blurb, and now I really want to read it!
