Why I’ve not been blogging much this year

This year I haven’t been very active on my blog and that is because in January I had a CT scan as part of a check up on my bowel, after an operation for colon cancer in 2023. As far as the colon was concerned it was negative, but it revealed a small left breast lesion. So I’ve had a lump removed and am currently coming to the end of a course of radiotherapy. This has meant a series of appointments taking up so much time in travelling to hospitals that I haven’t had as much time, or inclination, as usual to spend on blogging and even my reading time has been reduced. Later this month I have an appointment in Ophthalmology for an assessment for a cataract operation, which I am dreading, although I know it’s a routine outpatient procedure.

  4. Oh my goodness but haven’t you been through the mill! I really feel for you.

    Probably not much help, but my husband breezed through both his cataract operations and was surprised how quick they were. I think if you need it you’ll find it a LOT easier than a colonoscopy and I gather the effect is magical.

    Anyway, look after yourself and know you’re friends on your blog are thinking of you.

  6. So sorry you’ve had to go through this again, Margaret – hoping all is now well and stays that way. As for cataracts, the idea of the op has always horrified me, but my mum had both eyes done and the effects were amazing – gave her a whole new lease of life and brought her back to comfortable reading after many years of struggling. Good luck!

    1. Thank you and I am so encouraged to hear about your mum’s experience. My eyes aren’t as good as they were – and they’ve never been that good anyway, so I’m hoping I’ll have a whole new lease of life too!

  10. Oh Margaret, what a difficult time it’s been for you. Hopefully this will be the end of your treatment and you can look ahead to recovery and energy and time to enjoy life once again. Good luck with the cataract assessment. It may be a routine proceedure but that doesn’t make it any less scary. I’ll be thinking of you.

  14. Saddened to hear that you’ve been going through all of this Margaret. It’s completely understandable that blogging – and reading to some extent – have taken a back seat. Hope all goes well with the cataract operation – several friends have had that procedure, my husband has had it twice and all was fine.

  17. Margaret, so sorry to hear about your health challenges. And, yes, blogging and other things often have to take a break during those periods. We will all be around though whenever you are able or feel like sharing some with us. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers – and I really mean that!
