Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. For the rules see her blog.
The topic this week is The topic this week is Love/Valentine’s Day Freebie. I thought this would be hard for me as I don’t read many love stories or romantic fiction, but here are 10 love stories I have enjoyed. Some of them are books I read in my teens and others are ones I’ve read more recently. I’ve listed them in no particular order of preference and linked the titles either to Amazon or Goodreads.

- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
- Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
- Possession: a Romance by A S Byatt
- Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
- Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
- Tantalus: the Sculptor’s Story by Jane Westwell
- Bel Canto by Ann Patchett
- Star Gazing by Linda Gillard
- A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens
- Frenchman’s Creek by Daphne du Maurier
There’s some great classics there. I have read most of them at one point or another!

I haven’t read Star Gazing or Tantalus — but the rest of your list, totally agree and adore all of those books!

I’m not usually much of a one for romance novels, either, Margaret. But you’ve chosen some great stories here. There’s just something about those classics!

I had to read Jane Eyre for school, I think I got about halfway through and put it down because I was bored! Glad you enjoyed all these though.

I don’t read many classics, but I do want to go back and reread Jane Eyre, I think I enjoyed it (and kept a copy) but honestly can’t remember.

A fun group of classics; and you’ve listed my all-time favorite book: A. S. Byatt’s “Possession”; I only wish that I truly understood the writing, the book, the story, etc. I have read it many times but I don’t own this book now, lost it when moving or such. No matter, thanks for the memories…as they say, or that song.

I love JANE EYRE and P&P. I’ve read BEL CANTO, but it was a long time ago and I really don’t remember it. I’m glad you found some romances to love!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
