Cathy at Cathy 746 Books has an annual challenge, 20 Books of Summer, to read twenty books over the summer months starting on 1 June 2018 and running until 3 September 2018. The aim is to read from your TBR books already on your shelves.
There are also the options to read 15 or 10 books and as I’m very good at listing the books I want to read and very bad at sticking to the list I’m going for the 10 book option. I’ve never managed to stick to my list before so here’s hoping this year I’ll manage it. But the beauty of this meme is that if you change your mind you can even change your list!
So for now here are my 10 books:
- The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware
- The Last Kingdom by Bernard Cornwell
- Between the Woods and the Water by Patrick Leigh Fermor
- On Beulah Height by Reginald Hill
- Letters from Skye by Jessica Brockmole
- Darkside by Belinda Bauer
- Hotel du Lac by Anita Brookner
- Coffin Road by Peter May
- Absent in the Spring by Agatha Christie
- End in Tears by Ruth Rendell
I’ve not listed them in any particular order but I shall start with reading On Beulah Height.
So, any thoughts on my choices? Have you read any of these books? Are you taking part too?
I liked Woman in Cabin 10, Hotel du Lac and Dark Side. enjoy your summer picks.

You have a nice group of books there, Margaret. I’ll be interested in what you think of the Hill (such a talented author!). And I very much want to read Letters from Skye. I keep hearing great things about that one.

I’m not taking part, but wish you luck. I’ve read the Ruth Ware book – liked it a lot – and also On Beulah Height – liked it more than a lot. I own that Peter May book, as yet unread. And I want to read Letters From Skye and Dark Side. Nice choices, Margaret!

I’ve read The Last Kingdom, On Beulah Height and Coffin Road and thoroughly enjoyed all three, so I hope you will too – and the other seven, of course! Have a good summer of reading!

I’ve read 4 of them! Hotel du Lac, The Woman in Cabin 10, Letters From Skye and Coffin Road. All of them were very good! Good list for summer reading. I’m not signing on this year, maybe next.

I adored the Patrick Leigh Fermor books – all of them. I may have read that Brookner (I went through a rather depressed, lonely phase in my early 30’s when several of her books spoke to me rather too strongly!)
Good luck with your #10books

I also have Letters to Skye sitting on my bookshelf, so I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. The Woman in Cabin 10 sounds like a great summer read as well. Enjoy!

Margaret. I haven’t read any of the books on your list, although I have been enjoying the BBC’s adaptation of The Last Kingdom, and I am also taking part in this challenge (at the 10 level). I am hoping to kick things off later today, by starting The House on the Strand by Daphne du Maurier as my first book. Good luck and happy summer reading! 🙂
