I wasn’t going to take part in any more challenges this year – I’m probably doing too many – but when I saw this Nonfiction Challenge, hosted by The Introverted Reader I thought it could encourage me to read my non-fiction books. It runs between 1 January to 31 December 2015. You can sign up any time throughout the year.
Unlike some of the challenges I’ve joined this one really is a challenge for me, because although I like to read non-fiction I often find my self opting for fiction.

The Challenge: Read any non-fiction book(s), adult or young adult. That’s it. You can choose anything. Memoirs, History, Travel – absolutely anything that is classified as non-fiction counts for this challenge.
The levels:
Dilettante–Read 1-5 non-fiction books
Explorer–Read 6-10
Seeker–Read 11-15
Master–Read 16-20
I am aiming at the Seeker level and hoping to read more than 12 books (my total for last year!)
See my progress page here.
Good luck with this one. I’m tempted as I tend to read a reasonable amount of non-fiction but it would mean I would have to review every one and I don’t always do that for one reason or another.

Thanks, Cath – I hesitated for ages before joining another challenge, but this one really is a challenge just as the Mount TBR is. I don’t want to review every book either, but will try for these two challenges.

I’ll be looking forward to your thoughts on these. I will refrain from joining in.

Good luck with this challenge. My goal for the last few years was to read more non-fiction. I think I’ve got a good balance of fiction and non-fiction now.

I have a fair amount of non-fiction on my 2015 TBR shelf so I might actually be successful reaching Explorer level without adding any more books into the mix. I agree with the statement about enjoying non-fiction but tending to pick up fiction when choosing what to read next.
