Saturday Snapshot – our newest arrival!

We went to get the car MOT’d yesterday. Whilst we were waiting we walked down the road a little way to the Animal Rescue Kennels – just to have a look, you know. Actually we’d been thinking about going there for months, but yesterday was the day. And look who came home with us:

She’s two years old and a little timid and camera shy at the moment, but I managed to take this picture. Whitie, that’s the name she knows, so I think we’ll carry on calling her that – she comes when you call her name, is sitting where Lucy used to sit – on the computer room windowsill. Lucy died a year last January and it’s taken us this long to feel it’s right to get another cat. She’s seems to be settling quite well.

Here she is deciding whether to sit down or not – she did and she’s sitting there now as I type.

Here’s another photo – taken last night in the kitchen:

No doubt there’ll be a few more photos soon.

  1. Aww so sweet! Her markings are so interesting just over her ears like that. And it looks like her tail too? I can’t quite tell. I would have brought her home too 🙂

  2. I love her patches of colour – round her ears, on her chin and her tail – yes, Trish her tail is dark brown and tan mainly – ending in a circle of tan where her tail joins her back. I can’t imagine anyone giving her up to the Animal Rescue Kennels, but apparently her owners were moving and had too many cats – they brought her and two others in for re-homing! The other two had already got new owners!

  3. Great to see that she’s getting comfortable so quickly. I always laugh at my cats when we move to a new place. The older cat hides in the basement for 2 days, certain that we’ve moved to a house full of predators that he must watch out for. Here’s Mine

  5. This post made me so happy … I’m glad that you have found the space in your hearts for a new friend and I’m really happy that Whitie has found a new home … rescue leagues need more folk like you!

  6. Aww, what a sweetheart. I want to kiss her right on the nose.
My own cat, Jack, does that very thing Whitie is doing in the last picture. Lays on his side and then I rub his back and he balls up his front paws like fists, like he’s kneading the air, which I interpret to mean “Me like that, dad!”

  7. First, what a great addition to your home and second and more importantly, kudos for you for visiting your animal rescue to provide a beautiful life for one of its inhabitants!

  8. Aww, she’s sweet! It looks like she’s settling in nicely. I took Romulus to the local shelter to be fixed and saw so many cute kitties but I’m really only a one cat at a time person.

  9. I’m glad she’s settling in so well. When the dog I’d had for 16 years died, it took me a long time before I felt like sharing my life with another dog. They’re family, plain and simple.

  10. Glad to hear another cat is rescued and being looked after. Looks already at home, thank you for sharing the photos, makes me wish I was allowed cats where I live.

  11. Whitie looks like a grand companion! I am a dog person and have 2 retrievers and can’t imagine not having a pet. They give so much love and devotion.
