Six in Six: The 2025 Edition

Jo who used to blog The Book Jotter  is not running Six in Six again this year. The idea is to summarise the first six months of reading, sorting the books into six categories – you can choose from the ones Jo suggested or come up with your own. Or if you want to do a shorter version, then just post something about six books you have read in the first six months of 2025.

Although Jo is no longer blogging I think it’s a good way to look back over the last six months’ reading and so I thought I’d do it again this year.

As I’ve been reading less than usual this year (33 books in the first six months) I’ve had to use some of the books in more than one category. And as I’ve been reviewing less I haven’t written posts about all the books. The links take you to my posts on the books, and some are just short posts, not reviews. Books I haven’t reviewed are linked to Amazon.

  1. This is a nicely structured , clear look at your reading so far this year, Margaret! I’m impressed. You’ve had some good reads, too, which is even more important. I see some authors whose work I really enjoy, too (e.g. Griffiths, French, Tey, and a few others). I think the thing that impresses me most here is how you’ve mixed in a variety of genres as well as some non-fiction. I should get better at that…. Here’s to good second-half-of-the-year reading!

  2. I love your categories and looking at future reading is a great idea if you’ve read less than usual.
I normally do 6 in 6 but only got halfway through my post this year and it’s just been sitting unfinished ever since the start of the month ☹️

    1. Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it. I read the God is an Englishman series and To Serve Them All My Days many years ago and no longer have the paperbacks. This shows the drawbacks of not keeping books you enjoy! I wanted to re-read it so that is why I bought the e-book. Now I just need the time to sit down and read it! I’m so glad you loved Precipice and I do hope you’ve written about it and also about Wintering, a book that I found fascinating.

  3. I posted a Six in Six this year too, despite Jo not blogging anymore, and I’m pleased to see other people joining in with it! I loved God is an Englishman and still need to read the rest of the trilogy.

  4. Good categories! Even if you haven’t been reading as much as usual, it looks as though you’ve had some great reads so far this year, and that’s more important than quantity! I particularly enjoyed Precipice and Gabriel’s Moon, and one day I will get to The Frozen People!

  5. Interesting list with so many different genres and authors. I have only read “Brighton Rock” but recognized several books and authors.

Same as you, I have carried on doing this. After all, there are so many ideas that we still can explore.

    Here is my list.
