20 Books of Summer 2025 Challenge

This challenge was previously hosted by Cathy of 746 books and has now been taken on by AnnaBookBel and Emma of Words and Peace. If you don’t want to read 20 books you can opt for 15 or 10 instead. It’s a flexible challenge to suit yourself!

  • The #20BooksofSummer2025 challenge runs from Sunday June 1st to Sunday August 31st
  • The first rule of 20 Books is that there are no real rules, other than signing up for 10, 15 or 20 books and trying to read from your TBR.
  • Pick your list in advance, or nominate a bookcase to read from, or pick at whim from your TBR.
  • If you do pick a list, you can change it at any time – swap books in/out.
  • Don’t get panicked at not reaching your target.
  • Just enjoy a summer of great reading and make a bit of space on your shelves!

In the past I don’t think I’ve ever managed to read the lists I’ve compiled because I just can’t stick to reading from a list – as soon as a book is on a list my desire to read it just dies. So, this year I’m not making a list first, but I shall be reading from my TBRs and the books on my Netgalley Shelf.

These are just some of my TBR shelves – the books are double stacked:

  1. I know what you mean, Margaret, about making a list of books, only to decide you’re not going to read from that list. In my opinion, it’s far more productive to read what appeals at the time. I’ve found reading to be so much more pleasant that way. And you certainly have lots to choose from, so I hope your summer reading goes well!

  2. If you haven’t read it, and it isn’t the choice of husband/partner/wife/child/housemate then I’d start with Wartime Britain. I made the picture as large as I could–I love to snoop people’s bookshelves! Enjoy whatever you pick.

    1. With the exception of just a few of these books, they are all books I chose – the Wainwright book, for example is my husband’s choice, but I’d like to read it too. Wartime Britain is my choice and maybe I’ll get round to reading it this summer. I hope so, anyway.

  3. Well, it’s great to have lots of options, LOL! I have been cleaning my books out (making space for more that I love, LOL!) Good luck with the challenge.
