Cathy’s 20 Books of Summer Challenge 2023 has ended. There were options to read 10 or 15 books instead of the full 20. And you could swap a book, or change the list half way through if you wanted. And you could drop your goal from 20 to 15 or 10 if you wanted to.
As I’ve not been well since last year I’ve not been reading as many books as I usually do, so I dropped my goal to 15 books and I did read all 15. But it is only a partial success as I only managed to review five of them.
These are the books I read, the first five are linked to my reviews.
- A Sea of Troubles by Donna Leon
- Loch Down Abbey by Beth Cowan-Erskine
- The Midnight Hour by Elly Griffiths
- Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister
- Empire by Conn Iggulden
- Moon Tiger by Penelope Lively
- The Birthday Girl by Sarah Ward
- The Vanishing Tide by Hilary Taylor
- Death is Now My Neighbour by Colin Dexter
- The Last Remains by Elly Griffiths
- The Locked Room by Elly Griffiths
- Mister Pip by Lloyd Jones
- Lady’s Well by L J Ross
- The Cut by Christopher Brookmyre
- A Dirty Death by Rebecca Tope
Well done on reaching your goal, Margaret. You have some authors there whose work I really like (Griffiths, Dexter, Brookmyre, and of course, Sarah Ward). I hope the reading turned out to be enjoyable for you, with no disappointments, and I’ll be interested to know what you thought of the books you haven’t yet had a chance to review.

I’m sorry to hear your health is still troubling you. But as far as the challenge goes, the reading is the important bit, so well done!

Yes, I decided that the reading is the important bit. As far as my health goes I’ve just started a course of chemotherapy, so am not sure how I’m going to be feeling during the next weeks. I’m ok at the moment – fingers crossed!
