After a bumper month of reading in February I’m back to reading a more normal (for me) number of books in March, finishing reading 7 books, all of them from my To Be Read shelves, bringing my total for the year up to 26:
- Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger
- Death Under Sail* by C P Snow
- They Do It With Mirrors* by Agatha Christie
- The King’s Evil* by Edward Marston
- The English: a Portrait of a People by Jeremy Paxman (non-fiction)
- The Office of the Dead* by Andrew Taylor
- The Time Machine by H G Wells
The books marked * are crime fiction and my favourite book of the month and also my Crime Fiction Pick of the Month (hosted by Kerrie at Mysteries in Paradise) is:
The Office of the Dead by Andrew Taylor, the third book in the Roth Trilogy, a chilling novel of crime and retribution.

You had a good month Margaret. Lots of variety.

Margaret – You have a nice variety of books there. And I don’t blame you for choosing the Taylor. Such a talent!

C.P. Snow takes me back at least three decades though I have never read any of his books. I also need to return to Christie’s mysteries.

Sounds like you read some really good books last month. The Paxman book is the only one of those I’ve read. I must look up that Andrew Taylor series – he’s a very good writer.

Diane, it was – I like variety.
Margot – it was an easy decision, I loved it.
Prashant – I first read some of CP Snow’s books many years ago, but not they weren’t crime fiction. This one was a surprise – and I liked it.
Charlie – yes it was a good month, but The Office of the Dead was by far the best.
Cath – yes I did! Do look up the Roth Trilogy – they’re all good.
