Book Beginnings on Friday is a meme hosted by Becky at Page Turners. Anyone can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read, making sure that you include the title and author so others know what you’re reading. If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.
My opening sentence this week is from The Art of Drowning by Frances Fyfield:
Someone wants to kill me.
Nice and short and dramatic, leading me to wonder who is writing, who wants to kill him/her.

Margaret – Thanks for sharing this meme. It’s really interesting! I like that first sentence you shared, too. It’s certainly attention-getting, and makes me want to find out more.

With an opening line like that, how could you not want to read on?
I’m not officially participating in Becky’s meme, but I’m one of her fellow Australian bloggers, and I’m supporting her by visiting participants in the meme she runs.
Nice to meet you.

I love when an author “pulls me in” with their first sentence. Definitely makes you want to know who wants to kill who, and why. I just read a synopsis, and have added it to my to read list!
