TBR – Booking Through Thursday

Follow-up to last week’s question:

Do you keep all your unread books together, like books in a waiting room? Or are they scattered throughout your shelves, mingling like party-goers waiting for the host to come along?

bookcase2I have a bookcase where a lot of my unread books are shelved – that’s the waiting room. I also have unread books in piles in various rooms because I don’t have enough shelves – these are on the waiting list for places to come available. But now I come to think of it the unread bookcase also holds books I’ve read as well because there’s nowhere else left to move the unread books to once I’ve read them. And I have a feeling that there are some unread books mingled in amongst the other bookcases too.

The only place I’ve found to keep them under some form of order is in LibraryThing. But now LT has a category of Books To Read I see that I have 285 books in that category, whereas I’ve tagged 275 of them as TBR.  I’m so inconsistent! Anyway that’s a lot of unread books.

  1. I did a stocktake at the beginning of the year and a third of all my books are TBR. That would have grown by now since I’ve kept buying more books. The state of your bookcase resembles mine!

  3. My unread books have always been stacked inside 4 tote bags on the floor. Most of my keeper books are on shelves. Bt I need to start thinking about putting my unread books on shelves too…I have way too many books to counts them….*grin*

Thanks for visiting my blog! I wish you a Happy BTTs and good weekend ahead 🙂

  4. Books all over the place sounds familiar! I ran out of shelf space so I now have most of my unread in boxes. Not ideal because I can’t see them, but I needed to do something!

  5. lol imagine if we were all to put our unread books in one place? it’ll probably spill over and eventually fill up a house 😛 I haven’t tried putting things in order by Library Thing. I’m too scared as to know how many exactly I have in the TBR pile. Way way too scary 😛

  6. What would be sad and come to the day where there is nothing more to be read on your shelf, nothing new to exite you to buy and read. You would say that maybe it would be time to reread everything once more… I am happy to say that I am far from that day to come. Happy stacking Margaret.
