I’m not a great one for making New Year resolutions – or keeping them, but these are a few things I’d like to achieve in my reading this year.
- Read more from my to-be-read books and keep a record of how many I read (something I didn’t do last year).
- Read the library books I borrow and not just keep on renewing them, or returning them unread.
- Not get hung up if I don’t complete the reading challenges I’ve joined. Reading is for pleasure and it’s not something that ‘should’ be done.
- Weed out and re-house books I know I’ll never re-read.
I’m compiling some statistics and deciding which are my favourite books from 2011, which I’ll post soon.

Margaret – Happy New Year to you, too! I wish the best to you and your family in 2012. It sounds as though you’ve got some solid goals for the year; I know just what you mean about those library books, too. Done that myself…

Happy New Year, and good luck with all your desires. I don’t generally re-read books, and yes I should find new homes for the one’s I won’t read again.

Happy New Year!
I am not going to come up with any resolutions this year, but it might be a good idea of me to copy 1, 3 and 4 ;)

Hi Margaret,
I am not a great fan of The New Year, so I shall be glad when our last round of holiday visits is finished tomorrow, then everything can blessedly get back to normal.
I don’t go in for a lot of resolutions, as I know that I shall have broken most of them in a very short time. However this year, I am just sincerely hoping that things will look up for both hubbie and I on the employment front.
I used to be an avid user of the library service, but I am having real difficulty in remembering the last time I borrowed any books. I just know that I wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation to max out my ticket, without any hope of ever being able to read all the books in time. Besides which, there are just so many bargains to be had in the multitude of charity shops which crowd our high streets, that I can get more than enough reading material to keep me happy, without being held to a timetable to read any of them.
I never hold onto a book once I have read it, as I have a circle of friends and family who eagerly await any books that I pass on to them, although there is a downside in that they generally all give me books in return, so my TBR pile never really gets any smaller!!
Wishing you a Very Happy New Year of reading for pleasure, it has to be what its all about!
