Saturday Snapshot – Happy Christmas

There may not be much time for blogging next week, so today I’m wishing all of you a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS.

The photo below is one of me taken a long time ago when I went to see Father Christmas in Fairytale-Land – actually it was in Lewis’s Department Store in Manchester (not John Lewis), but I thought it was wonderful.

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce at At Home With Books.

  1. Margaret – What an absolutely lovely ‘photo! Thanks for sharing it, and Happy Christmas to you and those you love, too.

  2. The original Lewis’s store in Liverpool, now being converted into a hotel, had the most famous grotto in the city, so much so that when the store was closing down a couple of years ago they brought back Santa to say farewell – in June. I’m told that when I was taken to see him I burst into tears and would not stop until I could get away from him. I should add this was when I was a child, not during his farewell visit!

    Happy Christmas to you too.

  3. And a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too, Margaret. Your photograph is a lovely treasure. Ah, to regain the innocence of days gone by. I like the idea of Father Christmas rather than the roly-poly Santa Claus; it seems much less frightening for little ones. I too was terrified of Santa in the store when I was little.

  4. Oh weren’t you sweet! I always used to take my children to see Santa when they were growing up but there isn’t a Santas Grotto in our home town this year, although the shopping centre that we do PR for has a very popular one albeit nowhere near as magical and elaborate as they used to be!

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and have your family around you.
