These are amazing…what a huge discovery. I read somewhere that each soldier’s face is different and modelled on a different human so that they each have individual characteristics.
My son and his girlfriend are in China teaching English until July. The are on paid vacation right now for 8 weeks and are using this time to get their traveling in. They are planning a 2 week train trip, and one of their stops include this magnificent attraction! I am so jealous of them as I would love to see these in person.
Great pictures!

Have you seen the Book “The Terracotta Army” by John Man? It’s been on my TBR pile for quite awhile and your pictures really make me want to bump it up higher on the list.
We saw similar figures (Haniwa) when we lived in Japan, but they were much smaller. I have several at home and they are quite engaging.
Marvellous.

I’ve seen these in person, too, and the soldiers were tall and huge. It was breathtaking.

Tina, I didn’t know about John Man’s book. I’ve had a look on Amazon – it looks fascinating.
