Earlier I wrote about the best books I’ve read in 2008. Here are some statistics of my reading this year. In total I’ve read 95 books, made up of:
- Fiction = 80, including 1 audiobook
- Non fiction = 15, including 8 memoirs/autobiographies/biographies.
Of these 50 were written by female authors and 45 by male authors, and 44 of these authors were new-to-me.
- 5 were re-reads
- 55 were my own books
- 39 were borrowed
- 1 was an e-book
For the full list of books see here.
I joined 8 Challenges, most of which I didn’t finish. So next year I’ve decided not to join so many. This year’s challenges were:
- Celebrate the Author – completed 7 months out of 12
- Chunkster – completed
- Heart of a Child – not completed
- Once Upon a Time – not completed
- Pullitzer Prize for Fiction – ongoing
- R.I.P. (Readers Imbibing Peril) – not completed
- Soup’s On – on going
- What’s In a Name – completed
Coming up next my top ten Crime Fiction books of 2008.
happy new year Margaret. I responded to your comment on my blog with a link to when I wrote about Stan and Ollie.
You did a lot of reading too! This is only the second year i’ve kept a list of the books I’ve read but I don’t break them down as much as many do.. i’m just glad I have the list lol..
I only join 2 challenges and one is a no brainer for me (once upon a time).. the rip is harder since it’s not my thing to read about vampires and such, but have found gothic mystery to be ok.
Here’s hoping for a happy and healthy 2009!

Deslily, I don’t read about vampires either – not at all my thing! Thanks for the link.

a bit about the Stan and Ollie book.. some of what I found so appealing was all that was told about how silent movies were being made and then the introduction to talkies… I don’t know how it may differ in England or if that would not interest you ..

Deslily, that does interest me and I like Laurel and Hardy, although I haven’t watched any of their films for years!
