Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Bookmarks

top-ten-tuesday-new

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish and now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. For the rules see her blog.

This week’s topic: Favourite Bookmarks:

I use a variety of bookmarks, sometimes just a till receipt or scrap of paper if that’s all I have handy, but these are more traditional bookmarks that I usually use:

I also like to mark individual lines – I used to use post-its until I discovered book darts:

The bookmarks I use most often are Barter Book bookmarks:

  1. I’m impressed with those handmade ones. I have 3 unfinished ones – th stitching is done but I’m not sure how you attach a card to give it more strength or fix a backing. Any hints?

    1. I made those bookmarks from kits and they had a piece of backing material to stitch to the canvas. This doesn’t stiffen them, so the bookmarks are soft and floppy – which I like as they don’t damage the book spines.

  2. Those handmade bookmarks are lovely, Margaret! Your others are great, too, and I’m impressed with how many you have. I like having more than one bookmark around, because I always have more than one book going at any time.

  3. What lovely bookmarks! I tend to collect them as small and useful souvenirs of holidays, and am now in a position to be able to read about a hundred books at a time!

  4. Wonderful bookmarks! I am a collector as well, and try to buy one wherever I find them. Perfect as souvenirs when you are travelling, since they weight nothing.

  5. Not just me who’s bookmark obsessed then? I collect them from everywhere, tourist info places, Waterstones, the library… sometimes in the books themselves where someone has forgotten to remove it, so naturally I give them a good home. 🙂

  6. I’m beginning to feel inadequate with all these lovely bookmark posts! I don’t know what I do with bookmarks – I get plenty, but never seem to have one when I need one. I fall back on the old post-it tab. Your Chinese ones are lovely!
