Saturday Snapshot

Today’s Snapshot is looking back to when I was 16 and my friend and I  had just been presented with the Queen’s Guide Award. For some reason, which I can’t remember we were photographed with the Girl Guides District Commissioner and the Town Mayor as though we were giving them a cup of tea and biscuits!

I’m the Girl Guide on the right, next to the District Commissioner.

  1. Well then, Margaret; did you have a joyous adventure thorough life? I sure hope so. Have a nice weekend

  2. You were such a cute 16 year old, but then I would expect that since you are a lovely lady now. This reminds me of prep school in my teens when we were regularly instructed on the etiquette of serving tea, guiding conversations in social occasions, how to dress properly, etc. We even walked with books on our heads for perfect posture. I still think of those days every time I find myself slouching.

  3. I’ve never heard of the Girl Guides before, but the Queen’s award looks awesome! Is that a group like Girl Scouts?

    1. Yes, Alyce, called Girl Guides in the UK & Girl Scouts in the US – founder Lord Baden-Powell. Girls had wanted to join the Boy Scouts and in 1910 he asked his sister Agnes to form the Girl Guides.
