Not So Wordless Wednesday – Eggsplosion

To make exploding eggs:

  • Take two eggs and place them in a saucepan
  • Cover with water and put on the cooker to boil
  • Take a cup of tea upstairs
  • Sit down at computer to finish writing a post for your blog
  • Get completely engrossed in writing
  • Wonder what that funny smell is
  • Have a look out of the window to see if next door neighbours are having a barbecue
  • Can’t see them and decide someone must be having a bonfire
  • Go back to writing
  • When you hear an explosion run downstairs to see what the cat has broken
  • Find a burned out saucepan and the cooker covered in bits of egg

Note to Self : Don’t blog and boil eggs at the same time!

  1. I am glad I am not the only one who forgets about whats’ cooking while blogging. I have burnt milk to cinders more times than I remember!

So how did the exploded egg taste?

    *grin*

  2. Yes, blogging makes it really easy to drift away from the real world, doesn’t it? So easy to forget what I should be doing when there’s a computer in front of me. Don’t think I’ve ever exploded an egg, though!

  3. Ha, I’ve done that! My housemate came home, wondered what the pot on the burner was doing unattended, turned the gas off, and lifted the lid… and we were still cleaning egg bits off the ceiling when we moved out. 😉

  4. LOL! When I sit down with my laptop to write a post, I seem to tune out the rest of the world…not always a good thing, as you have clearly illustrated.

  5. This is by far my most favorite post of the week (so far)! Your stovetop was looking way too clean anyway 😉

  6. Not funny, but Too funny! This is not unknown in our household either. Hope you’re having a great day, despite the egg experiment.

  7. Oh, I’ve done it too, though not to the point of explosion. (If I’d known THAT might happen, hey I might have waited….LOL)

It seems you’re in good company too. I wonder how often ‘blogging’ occurs in insurance reports??

  8. You “crack” me up with your egg recipe. My kind of recipe as I don’t cook and I am afraid this is how they would turn out even with me in the kitchen. Nice of you to blame it on the kitty by the way – I do that all the time.

Back in college, my roomie popped an egg into the microwave one night and punched in the wrong time – the microwave door exploded the egg all over the creation. She was so startled by the explosion that she ended up in my lap! I don’t think we ever got all the egg off of the walls.

  9. Oh no! I recently exploded a potato in the oven. My sister in law left them there to stay warm with the oven off before we were ready to eat. I thought I could quickly heat up a bagel for my lunch (I like them to be a little brown). I heard some bang and thought it was my niece playing, but when I started smelling something burning I discovered a potato had gotten a little overheated and now found it’s flesh all over the inside of the oven. It was awful. I had to clean the entire thing out, but I guess it needed it. Now I have a clean oven, and next time I’ll take the potatoes out before using the stove! 🙂
